Adding Functionality
This small laundry closet is an excellent example of how adding a few small touches can drastically improve the functionality of a space that would otherwise be a jumbled mess. Along with serving the family’s laundry needs, this closet must store excess pantry items, cleaning supplies, extra wall paint for the entire house, some basic tools, and, of course, the ubiquitous bin of random wires. These items are easily stored in bins on the shelves. In addition to organizing items into bins, we added a few touches to improve functionality. On the left side, we hung their small vacuum on the wall along with a basket to keep the vacuum attachments contained. On the right side, we installed two retractable clothes lines for air drying, two rods to hold empty hangers, and a pullout rod for hanging up freshly dried laundry.
